Duties

Help
  • Performs duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of interior plumbing and potable and non-potable water systems, air, natural or manufactured gas, sewage, industrial wastes, chilled water and gas distribution systems.
  • Assembles pipe sections and fittings that may require threading and pipe bending operations. Inspects and tests piping after installation or the completion of repairs or alterations.
  • Cleans all blockages in the main sewage lines, installs and repairs utility lines and their component parts up to 12-inch gas, 24-inch sewage and 30-inch potable water.
  • Makes repairs to utility systems consisting of any of the following materials: steel, malleable iron, cast iron, ductile iron, asbestos concrete, steel lined concrete, concrete, copper, PVC, ABS, PE, etc.
  • Maintains, repairs and installs the natural gas distribution system from the utility company's delivery points to buildings and facilities and works on excavations.
  • The distribution system includes lines of 3/4 inch to 12 inch diameter carrying up to 85 psi pressure; reducing stations, building regulators, pilot regulators, main regulators, turbine meters, relief valves, etc.

  • Must obtain and maintain a Government Driver's License.
  • A pre-employment and annual physical is required.
  • Moderate to Heavy Lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Must receive and maintain Hepatitis A and B vaccinations as directed by Army Regulation 40-562.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common duties of installing, maintaining, and repairing of commercial and industrial plumbing systems contained in commercial facilities, buildings and infrastructures. Use carpentry skills related to repairing, constructing, remodeling, and maintaining commercial facilities, buildings, and infrastructure; and installing repairing, and maintenance of electrical systems and parts. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort

  • The employee makes repairs from ladders, scaffolding, platforms and other hard-to- reach places.
  • Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 100 pounds.
