The primary purpose of this position is: To provide assistance in support of the Air Reserve Personnel Center's office, which is primarily responsible for researching, verifying. correcting and updating the Military Personnel Data System (M1lPDS) for various data Items to ensure the proper career credit and accurate accounting of members for the users of our Reserve resource

DUTIES:

  1. Performs developmental work assignments.
  2. Performs recurring work assignments.
  3. Participates in special studies and projects.
  4. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation.
GS-07
  1. Assists in performing analyses, computes, verifies and updates for a variety of data elements in MilPDS for Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard members in accordance with current and historical laws, governing directives and internal policies.
  2. Assists in making the appropriate determinations of member's status and proper assignment within IRR/Standby Reserve.
  3. Independently develops and provides verbal and written responses to inquiries and answers questions through the Case Management System (CMS), REMEDY, telephone, writing, E-mail.
  4. Assists in processing gain actions and loss requests within IRR/Standby Reserve S7 PAS
  5. Inquires against and updates computer files.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0203 series.

GS-05 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of basic principles of human resource (HR) rules, procedures, and operations in an HR automated system sufficient for the maintenance of military personnel records and documents. Basic knowledge of Air Force and Department of Defense files, laws, directives, instructions, policies and procedures.
OR
EDUCATION:
Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, has a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. This education was received from an accredited University, College, etc. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application.

GS-07 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of, and skill in applying, fundamental and military human resources and management methods, principles and practices of military personnel associated with the Air Force Reserve; and standardized analytical and evaluative methods and techniques sufficient to advise on and/or resolve moderately complex nonĀ­controversial, well-precedent factual, procedural; make informed judgements on problems and issues. Skill in the use and application of PDS data, ACCESS, EXCEL, ORACLE HR and other analytical and technical software packages. Knowledge of automated systems, personal computers, and relational database technology. Ability to analyze data/products to determine adequacy of data to support programs within the USAFR and Air National Guard structures.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-inĀ­-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level.
One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

2. Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing.

1. Knowledge of military personnel policies. procedures, rules. guidelines and publications in an IIR automated system sufficient for the maintenance of military personnel records and documents.
2. Knowledge of Air Force and Department of Defense files. laws. directives. instructions. policies and procedures
3. Knowledge and experience in a specialized background in order to interpret and apply precedents. and resolve complex procedural and substantive problems in concluding transactions and making key decisions.
4. Knowledge of and ability to operate computer, for retrieval of information and records ARMS documents. and ability to update MilPDS.
5. Ability to select and apply the particular law, rule, instruction. procedure or precedent appropriate to the individual case or circumstance. Ability to work under the pressure of established deadlines and short suspense.
6. Skill in maintaining effective working relationships in and outside the office and in serving as the primary point or responsible contact for the work involved. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
