As an AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER, GS-2185-08, you will accomplish all requirements involved in mission planning and coordination. Accomplish a wide variety of preflight, in flight, and post flight duties required by the nature of the aircraft assigned and the aircraft's specialized mission. Develop evacuation procedures for aircrew and passengers. Relay any hazards to pilot/flight engineer. Perform other duties as assigned.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Must attain and maintain mission-ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in the unit’s assigned aircraft. Periodically, must take and pass written and in-flight standardization evaluation exams to include random no notice exams.
May be exposed to physiological hazards of flight plus physical/psychological demands of lengthy missions, must work in confined, hazardous noise areas, subject to inclement weather during ground operations and dangerous conditions during flight.
May be required to travel in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties.
Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:Must haveexperience in functions such as preparing aircraft loading plans, loading and offloading aircraft, operating loading equipment, and ensuring security of cargo in flight.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience, education or training performing weight and balance computations, cargo loading planning and security, directing cargo or personnel loading and off-loading operations. Knowledge of rules for hazardous cargo transport. Experience performing aircraft inspections to determine aircraft airworthiness.
