Duties

Help
  • Analyzes and reconciles a variety of accounts and financial transactions within multiple commonly used systems.
  • Performs analyses of relevant financial data and transactions to conduct financial reporting operations.
  • Runs daily and non-daily general ledger reports to analyze, research, correct, and maintain documentation for audit.
  • Coordinates with the Budget and requesting departments to determine validity of purchase requests and de-commit or process obligation transactions.
  • Provides routine timelines support, regular biweekly payroll cycles, and special timelines for end-of-month audit reports, such as leave or use/lose.
  • Reviews, verifies, and processes a variety of payroll and time and attendance data.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This is a DOD Financial Management position. Incumbent must complete training and meet requirements for certification at Level 2 within 2 years of appointment. Failure to obtain and maintain certification may result in adverse action.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) utilizing an automated system to input and/or verify financial, payroll and/or time and attendance data; and 2) resolving financial, pay-related and/or time and attendance discrepancies; and 3) providing advice on financial, payroll and/or time and attendance procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Finance or Accounting.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
