Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for answering all phone and radio calls received in the Alarm Center while operating various manual and automated alarm monitoring systems.
  • You will monitor all appropriate alarm systems including fire alarms, intrusion detection system (IDS) alarms, and duress alarms.
  • You will provide internal, external, and intra-command coordination at the request of NSA police, fire, radiological control, and response units.
  • You will maintain an up-to-date log of all radio and telephonic transmissions sent/received and a chronological minute-to-minute log of significant events.
  • You will communicate clearly, concisely, and distinctly on all messages being recorded or transmitted.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may be coded as "key” and as such incumbent may be required be removed from their military recall status if applicable. A signed statement of understanding is required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing Security Assistant work. I have the comprehensive knowledge of the command, state, and federal rules, regulations and procedures to answer routine and emergency requests for information and/or react appropriately to routine or emergency situations. Specialized experience duties includes the following: 1) Operating radio communication equipment.2) Receiving incoming telephone or alarm systems calls.3) Maintaining logbooks/records.4) Operating electronic computer-based systems for emergency (Police, fire, and or EMS) dispatching management.5) Working on multiple equipment/systems (alarm systems, dispatch recording devices, multi-channel radios) during emergency situations.6) Disseminating information from incoming callers during emergency situations.7) Effectively carrying out several tasks at the same time such as operating radios, telephones, and typing while efficiently communicating with the public, police, fire, and/or medical personnel

This position may require working other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays or shift schedule depending on mission requirements. Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position and member may be required to be available on-call to deal with security/operational issues that may arise. Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required as needed.
