Duties

Help
  • You will apply maximum-security measures for the protection of property, material, equipment, and personnel.
  • You will work as a Lead Security Guard over ten to twelve GS-07 security guards, distributing and balancing the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization.
  • You will ensure security guards use the appropriate methods and procedures for protecting NSWDG facilities and enforce a wide variety of DoN and local regulations.
  • You will respond to emergency calls and conduct preliminary investigations of purported or obvious crimes or other security breaches, such as unauthorized presence, threats, robbery, or assaults.
  • You will conduct incident or security violation investigations that cannot be completed in the course of a normal work shift.
  • You will act as the lead roving patrol and emergency response unit, capable of performing missions in highly stressful and physically demanding environments.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or Final Top Secret/SCI Security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency
  • The position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form 2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Incumbent is subject to periodic counterintelligence (CI) scope polygraphs.
  • This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage on an LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Basic Annuity IAW 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.
  • Must possess the mental disposition and ability to deal with uncooperative, unruly, and potentially dangerous individuals.
  • This appointment is subject to a 1-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: You will provide physical security for the premises to ensure the safety and/or welfare of persons on the compound. You will provide appropriate response to breaches in physical security control (e.g) locks, fences, gates and other barriers). You will control compound access to determining identity, purpose of visit, and destination for all personal and visitors. You will deny access to personnel/visitor with authorizationh and proper identification to prevent unathorized access to compound facilities. You will interact with public tactfully to provide assistance to general questions and non-emergency situations.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, tactfully interact with people and prepare incident reports. Ability to use desktop computers and command database systems to access files on personnel, vehicles, and clearances.

Additional information

Must pass a per-employment and an annual physical agility test and medical examination in accordance with local SOP and Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (AR 190-56)
Must satisfactorily complete phase I training for civilian security guard personnel within six months of entering on duty per CNICINST 3502.2.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
Must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle.
Must successfully obtain and maintain CPR certification and complete first aid training.
Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform and maintain a high state of hygiene.
The rotating shifts are various- they can be 8 hours or 12 hours depending on the number of people working. It is hard to predict which shift someone can get because they can come onboard on the 0730 - 1600 shift but the following week might get the midnight shift.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
