The United States Space Force (USSF) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is searching for a Satellite Communications Team Lead to support NSIC (GG-0132-13).

Description:
The 1st Intelligence Analysis Squadron is seeking a GG-13 Team Lead for our Communications Flight to spearhead the evaluation of foreign communications satellites, with a focus on the INDOPACOM area of responsibility. In this role, you will be the team's technical cornerstone, guiding analysts in producing authoritative intelligence on communications satellite payloads, advanced technologies, signals, and users. A key part of your mission will be fostering the growth of your team members, mentoring them in advanced tradecraft to develop the next generation of analysts. Your team's work will directly impact national security by delivering high-impact assessments that shape the strategic landscape for senior leaders and warfighters. Day-to-day, you will direct the analysis of complex technical data, apply innovative methods, and ensure your team communicates its findings through clear, compelling written products and oral briefings.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is an experienced intelligence professional with a deep technical background in satellite communications, including extensive experience evaluating SATCOM payloads, technologies, signals, and ground equipment. The ideal candidate is also a proactive leader with a passion for developing junior employees through coaching and mentorship. The candidate should be an expert in applying Intelligence Community analytic tradecraft standards and possess a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical subjects for a wide range of audiences. Extensive experience networking across the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community and collaborating on projects with diverse partners is key to success in this role. Proficiency with Python for data analysis is also a preferred qualification.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Extensive knowledge of, or experience in, satellite communications systems or subsystems and/or operations.
2. Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, DoD, and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
3. Knowledge and skill in application of all-source intelligence analysis in the development of new methods and procedures.
4. Skill in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the mission, writing clear and concise intelligence products, and delivering written and/or verbal presentations to senior level audiences for decision-making purposes.
5. Ability to provide guidance, analytic direction, product review, and evaluation; mentoring other analysts on foreign space systems, and developing them in their respective areas of expertise.
6. Ability to lead a team in establishing and executing a production timeline, define analytic mission area direction, and effectively manage team workload.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS funding is authorized.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
  • An degree in general science, intelligence analysis or a closely related discipline is desired.
