Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Serve as a technical expert in the development of investigative methods.
  • Apply specialized forensic knowledge in developing processes to acquire, analyze and identify digital evidence in criminal, civil, or administrative investigations involving the use of computers, network technology, and digital information in the commitment of crimes.
  • Prepare reports, position papers, and other documents concerning the OI Digital Forensic Unit and their impact on digital forensics, ESI, and eDiscovery, which are clear, concise, factual, and timely. Reports include, but are not limited to, monthly and quarterly evaluations of the operational performance of the DFU, weekly highlights, input into the semiannual report to Congress, and policy documents.
  • Prepare, review, and revise new policies, programs, standards, and techniques.
  • Perform staff studies and other special assignments, as required, in a timely and acceptable manner.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience for the GS-13, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing applicable principles, procedures, and techniques to ensure digital evidence is collected, transported, and stored properly; AND
  • Demonstrated experience processing and analyzing digital evidence; AND
  • Demonstrated experience using automated databases to manage information.

- Compensation is strictly limited to the base General Schedule table and applicable locality pay. It is not eligible for Administrative Uncontrolled Overtime (AUO), or Information Technology Specialty Pay differentials.

- Top Secret background Investigation will be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.

- Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
- This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.
