Duties

Help
  • Perform a variety of complex technical functions to interpret, order, receive, store, and dispense pharmaceuticals
  • Process medication orders by using computerized order entry.
  • Identify problems independently and adjusts accordingly for final screening by Pharmacist.
  • Prepare, store, and issue sterile and non-sterile drug preparations following established guidelines.
  • Perform functions with computer-based systems and software.
  • Operate work area in an efficient and effective manner in terms of quality and quantity of services provided.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • Required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement. A candidate tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes prepare and label pharmacy products; provide information on various medications for customers inquires; and utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems to process prescriptions and medication orders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).


Pharmacy Technician License is HIGHLY PREFERRED.
