Duties

Help
  • You will develop, implement, and administer the Shipyard's Substance Abuse Primary Prevention and Intervention Program (SAPPIP).
  • You will provide counseling services associated with the SAPPIP.
  • You will provide training and education to employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • You will maintain records and prepare required reports.
  • You will maintain a list of counselors and ensure they are apprised of pertinent personnel management information and recent changes.
  • You will serve as a counselor for substance abuse problems and other problems.
  • You will provide confidential consultation with employees who request or are referred/directed to counseling.
  • You will maintain individual case files which contain data necessary for the counselor's use and for required reports.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must have a minimum of 3 years experience and be licensed as a clinical social worker at the independent level of practice (LCSW or LICSW). LADC/MLADC preferred.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education requirements (listed in the Education section), your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience applying the skills and knowledge of a professional social worker with a specialty in substance abuse counseling.
  • Experience providing counseling services for individual cases, including those categorized as serious and complicated.
  • Experience assessing and evaluating employees who are physically, emotionally, or mentally impaired, or others in need of or seeking vocational guidance.
  • Experience with program management and administrative skills.
  • Experience ensuring the provision of quality professional services, pertaining to a Substance Abuse Primary Prevention and Intervention Program (SAPPIP).

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Basic Requirements for Social Worker (0185):

  • Must have successfully completed a degree in Social Work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. OR,
  • Must have successfully completed a master's degree in Social Work with practicum.
