Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to operate a limited-service bar for private parties & banquets. Mix & serve alcoholic & nonalcoholic beverages, process payments, maintain inventory, & ensure a clean, presentable bar. Applicant follows written or verbal instructions from management, uses proper drink proportions, recognizes intoxicated patrons, reconciles tabs, & stands or walks for extended periods while handling bar supplies. Located at Silver State Club in Naval Air Station Fallon.

Duties

Help

  • Set up full service, limited service, special event or banquet bars with beverages, mixes, condiments, garnishes, napkins, ice, glasses and utensils.
  • May serve soft drinks, bottle or draft beer as needed.
  • Replaces supplies as necessary; removes empty kegs and replaces with full ones, transfers cases of beer to refrigerator, removes cases of empty bottles and separates returnable empty bottles.
  • May unload and stack beverage items and supplies for storage.
  • Removes trash. Washes, cleans and dries bar glasses, utensils and equipment.
  • Ensures working area is maintained according to appropriate sanitation and safety standards to included, but not limited to sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning sinks, walls, cabinets, etc.
  • Assist in taking inventory at required intervals.
  • Responsible for complying with all safety, fire and sanitation rules and regulations.

  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
  • Must walk or stand for prolonged periods of time. Uses dolly to transport beer kegs.
  • Work schedule is flexible and will vary as required by the needs of the program to include night, weekend, and holiday shifts as well as split days off.
  • May have or obtain and maintain the following certification within 90 days of hire: Food Handlers and/or C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively).
  • Frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds.
  • Must meet minimum state age requirements to prepare/serve alcohol.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and skill to mix and serve beverages from a bar which is limited to a few varieties and brands of liquor, soda, beer, and wine.
  • Pre-mixed beverages, such as daiquiris, are served; however, beverages of the exotic variety are not mixed or served.
  • Knowledge of the correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages according to name request from patrons or cocktail attendants.
  • Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed.
  • Ability to collect tabs or chits in appropriate amounts and reconcile them with the quantities and prices of items dispensed.
