Summary

The Environment of Care Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, preparation, coordination, and ongoing maintenance of the Environment of Care Program (EOC) at the Orlando VA Healthcare System. This position is responsible for the coordination of the EOC program including safety management, hazardous materials, emergency management, fire prevention, equipment management, utility management, and a secure environment, as described in The Joint Commission standards.

Help

Major duties include but are not limited too:

  • Prepares the Medical Centers annual evaluation of the Environment of Care Program.
  • Complete and update, at least annually, the environment of care related standard elements for the periodic performance review on TJC web portal.
  • Participate in the development and approval of directives, policy matters and related documents issued by the Medical Center.
  • Track to resolution all employee reports of unsafe or unhealthy working conditions and maintains an official log and provides reports.
  • Establishing internal policies, formulating projects, assessing program of effectiveness, and resolving a variety of problems.
  • Responsible for identifying program areas in Medical Center activities.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday: 7:30am-4:00pm

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/10/2026

Specialized experience for the Environmental Care Specialist assist with barcode inspection and management of inspection database, tracking reports, and updates to the system; Coordinate the Mental Health Rounds Team Inspections, documentation of findings, attendance, and tracking action items until resolved and provide reports; prepare reports and presentations in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Access; Conduct critiques of fire drills and emergency exercises and provide a summary report which includes recommendation to improve effectiveness; Participate in the development and approval of directives, policy matters and related documents issued by the Medical Center.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Master's degree or equivalent or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an appropriate combination of specialized experience directly related to the work of the position.
