Major Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifies initial requirements and storage locations with the customer and coordinates with supervisor in identifying and locating required items in the automated inventory system.
  • Creates proper inventory lists in the automated system and sets initial levels to begin auto-generation of supplies for the customer.
  • Performs maintenance in the database to include removal of old items and the addition of new items.
  • Determines the appropriate procedures in obtaining goods and services that will meet the requirements and the delivery schedule, provide the best price available, and conforms to acquisition regulations.
  • Authorizes significant changes in expenditure and stock levels based on usage requirements and budgeting considerations.
  • Coordinates with customers and/or suppliers to arrange for the acquisition of products while maintaining compliance with all acquisition regulations.
  • Enters and maintains current data in the automated supply system on a daily basis.
  • Uses various methods of procurement, such as oral solicitation and written requests for quotations in the course of their purchases that include purchase orders, delivery/verbal orders, and blanket purchase agreements.
  • Ensures that supplies are in place when and where they are needed.
  • Oversees stock inventory at prescribed levels and establishes or adjusts stock levels and reorder points using various reports generated from historical usage data.
  • Provides adjustment of stock levels as usage data begins to generate.
  • Manages the inventory and resolves any related issues.
  • Ensures that all applicable supply directives are adhered to concerning the proper storage environment and movement of supply inventory.
  • Reconciles charges and resolving discrepancies on purchase cards.
  • Researches multiple sources for up to date information to include general listing of firms offering particular goods or services, Internet searches, informal contacts with sales representatives, and procurement personnel from other federal agencies.
  • Performs unusually difficult document control assignments requiring extensive and exhaustive searches for required information and reconstruction of records for complex supply transactions.
Work Schedule: 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/09/2026.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
    • Forecasting supply needs.
    • Exercising purchase card responsibilities.
    • Determining realistic stock levels.
    • Monitoring supplies to ensure stock is properly rotated by expiration date.
    • Utilizing an automated inventory management system and bar code system to manage inventory to include receipt and distribution.
    • Entering and maintaining current data in an automated supply system.
OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED.

  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. (i.e. 6 months of specialized experience and 2 years of education above the high school level). The first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching and similar activities in and around storage areas. Incumbent may be called upon to assist in the storage and distribution of medical supplies primarily consisting of lifting boxes up to 50 pounds, and placing them on shelves or carrying them to another area of the service that they are working in.
