The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Space Force Base, CA is searching for a Budget Lead to support SYD 85/S8 (NH-0501-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).

As the USSF continues to grow and evolve, we seek a highly motivated and talented individual to join our dynamic team as the Budget Lead of Operations, Command-and-Control Acquisition Delta within the Battle Management, Command, Control & Communications Intelligence PEO. Be part of a groundbreaking organization shaping the future of space operations and national defense. In this role, you will work directly for the Budget Chief with the opportunity to lead a team of 5+ financial professionals with regular reporting to the Chief Finical Officer and other Senior Material Leaders. As the Budget Lead, you'll develop and monitor financial metrics and shape the financial strategy for a portfolio of unclassified and classified programs! You'll have the opportunity to implement change management, streamline decision support, and help program managers advocate for additional funding. With only 5 PEOs within Space System Command, this is a rare leadership opportunity within the U.S. Space Force!

Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). In-depth knowledge of federal budgeting and financial regulations relating to Plan, Program, Budget and Execution (PPBE) process. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to include, but not limited to TS/SCI work. The individual should have experience presenting financial data to senior leaders and experience synthesizing financial data to non-finance stakeholders. The candidate should have significant experience in Microsoft Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word. Experience with Power BI and CCaR is considered a valuable plus.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is authorized.
  • This position is designated a NON-CRITICAL APDP position.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
  • This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d.
