As a Security Assistant, you will:

  • Monitor all issued equipment and upgrade templates as level of care changes are needed.
  • Be the first point of contact at the security desk, as well as at the USAccess credential desk.
  • Provide identification cards and vehicle passes to Resident's Employees, Contractors, Volunteers and Visitors.
  • Be responsible for conducting criminal and civil background checks by accessing an approved online criminal and civil records system.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.

Specialized Experience for the GS-05: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Experience applying a standardized body of rules and procedures sufficient to perform a wide range of administrative support duties, using an automated system. AND
- Experience preparing reports, or data collection, for the Security Division, Business Center and Administrative Office.

OR You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows:

Successfully completion of 4 years of education above high school level.

OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.

A combination of education and experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-05, you must have been at the GS-04 level for 52 weeks

The candidate has experience using and managing ''CISCOR'' nurse call system, AFRH's keycard management software, and USAccess Credentialing center devices and software related to HSPD-12 requirements. They will have extensive experience in managing and tracking the timekeeping system for the Security Division utilizing GovTA. They have extensive knowledge conducting criminal and civil background checks using local law enforcement agencies criminal and civil records system for all community volunteers. They have experience multi-tasking providing analytical and administrative support for various Security programs.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Selectees will be subject to the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program.
  • Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Because the AFRH's mission requires uninterrupted, direct human support and medical care for its Residents, this position is considered essential for continuing AFRH operations. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to arrive for duty on time, as scheduled, and to complete the assigned tour during emergency situations such as hazardous weather.
