Duties

Help

As the Senior Campaign Finance & Reviewing Analyst in this position, you will:

  • Review and analyze campaign finance reports and filings to determine adherence to The Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) and the FEC regulations;
  • Provide advice and guidance to committee officials to help them comply with FECA, FEC regulations, and other Commission policies;
  • Initiate, prepare, or review referrals to other FEC offices and divisions for further action;
  • Handle inquiries relating to matters addressed in Advisory Opinions, Commission policy statements and interpretive rules, division policies and procedures, and other available guidance;
  • Train, coach, and mentor new and less experienced analysts.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and/or education requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.

Qualifications for GS-0301-12:
You must have at least one full year of specialized experience analyzing campaign finance reports to verify information and discern patterns of activities. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors), and must include activities such as: (1) reviewing and analyzing disclosure reports for compliance with the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) and applicable laws, regulations, and precedents; (2) applying qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques to the review of reports to identify and resolve complex issues; (3) using all of the databases, analytical methods and tools of the division; (4) providing training and/or giving guidance to less experienced analysts on the tools and methods used for the review of reports; and (5) providing technical advice to internal or external customers in response to questions about FECA requirements.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).

Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work experience: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Bargaining Unit: This is a bargaining unit position (National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) Chapter 204).
