Duties

Help

  • Performs work planning responsibilities.
  • Performs work direction responsibilities.
  • Performs administration responsibilities. Performs work direction responsibilities and drives a variety of vehicles, some of which have a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds (this includes K-Loaders, step/stair trucks, buses, 25K/NGSL and various conveyors) and operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered forklift trucks which are capable of lifting loads of less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to facilitate loading and unloading assignments.
  • Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.

  • U.S. Citizenship Required. Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain certification to operate general and special purpose vehicles/equipment assigned to the flight.

  • Must be able to work at elevated heights, up to 237" off the ground. Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
  • Position is subject to shift rotation and uncommon tour of duty and exposure to prevailing weather conditions. Emergency overtime may be required.
  • Incumbent will be required to pass a pre-employment physical. Physical requirements include: heavy lifting (45-79 lbs.); heavy carrying (45 lbs. and over); hours of straight pulling are 4 hours/week.
  • Hours of pushing are 4 hours/week; reaching above shoulder height; use of fingers; both hands required; hours of walking are 2 hours/day; hours of standing are 2 hours/day; hours of repeated bending are I hour/day.
  • Climbing to include use of legs and arms; both legs required; operation of crane, truck, motor vehicle, or fork lift; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; both eyes required; depth perception; hearing (aid permitted).
  • Additional functional requirements include: required to wear safety shoes; use of ear plugs, helmets, and/or other protective equipment when in vicinity of aircraft with engines running.
  • If it can be otherwise accommodated, a specific physical condition or impairment will not automatically disqualify a candidate.
  • Environmental factors include: work performed in an outside environment with exposure to the elements (excessive heat; excessive cold; excessive noise, intermittent; dust and dirt; grease and oils.
  • Solvents such as degreasing agents; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; working around machinery with moving parts; working around moving objects or vehicles; working closely with others and alone.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gunn control Act ( Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance. May be required to receive vaccinations as an occupational health precaution due to potential exposure to biomedical hazards (i.e. blood born pathogens).
  • This position is designated as a key position IA W AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.
  • Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
  • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF), which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency.
  • And continued through full resumption of all functions. IA W, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FLO) SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised.
4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
5. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
