  • Plans, formulates, and administers the real estate management, disposal, and in-leasing programs to meet the needs of the District's varied civil works and military programs.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing the vision, mission, and direction of the organization by effectively leading and managing a workforce with varying backgrounds by leveraging the talents of each employee.
  • Performs personnel management functions to guide, direct and evaluate the technical efforts and work products produced by a team of realty specialists, review appraiser, land surveyor, program analyst, and/or contracted personnel.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires temporary duty travel to other duty locations 40% of the time.
  • This position may require a one-year Supervisory probationary period.
  • Work also requires travel some of which may include field or undeveloped sites that require incumbent to walk, stand, bend, carry light objects and use safety equipment under inclement conditions or during periods of extreme temperatures.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) utilizing a highly developed professional knowledge of real estate principles, practices, markets and values to ensure the planning, execution, and evaluation of the real estate management, disposal, and in-leasing requirements for timely execution of the mission within established schedule milestones; 2) providing guidance to a staff of real estate technical employees to perform the real estate technical and analytical work for the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this GS-13 you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
