The United States Space Force (USSF) in Boulder, CO is searching for a Boulder Ground Innovation Facility (BGIF) Director to support SYD 84 (NH-1101-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).

This role is for the Boulder Ground Innovation Facility (BGIF) Director responsible for leadership and strategic vision in organizing, directing, and overseeing the execution of mission activities across multi-tenant/multi-program facility and a workforce of 100+ personnel. The BGIF includes a diverse mix of Government Civilians, Military members, Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) personnel, System Engineering and Integration (SE&I), System Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA), and support services contractors.
The BGIF Director requires a technical background in research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) to establish facility and core infrastructure priorities, upgrades, and maintenance activities to support multiple facility tenants including the Tools, Applications and Processing (TAP Lab) and other US Space Force programs. The BGIF Director is an Acquisition Program Manager directing multidisciplinary technical teams, collaboration amongst advanced development programs, and supports emerging technology initiatives. This role requires hands-on familiarity with program execution, coordination across government and contractor teams, cross-organizational leadership engagement at the O-5+ level, and direct supervisor responsibilities of military and/or civilian personnel.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within integrated product teams composed of highly diverse and technically sophisticated subject matter experts. A background in acquisition and business management is desirable, particularly experience supporting or executing multi-million-dollar projects in a high-performing, innovative environment. Candidates should possess strong leadership experience, business operations background, and a solid technical foundation appropriate to mission needs. Experience in relevant USSF mission areas to the BGIF and TAP Lab mission are highly desired. This position offers an opportunity to apply leadership/managerial & technical expertise while gaining hands-on experience managing cost, schedule, and performance across mission-critical technology RDT&E efforts.

The Acquisition Program Manager must be capable of leading and managing diverse teams of government, military, and contractor personnel, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance across a dynamic mission environment.
This role requires the ability to thrive amid evolving priorities and changing operational demands, while maintaining focus on mission outcomes, schedule, and performance. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong people-management skills, including mentoring, workload prioritization, and constructive engagement to resolve issues and drive results.
From an execution standpoint, the candidate must possess sufficient technical and acquisition acumen to oversee multiple projects & initiatives supporting facilities, infrastructure, software development, networks, communications, and advanced technology efforts. The ability to address performance shortfalls directly, manage conflict professionally, and take decisive corrective action when necessary is essential.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
4. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing.
5. Ability to supervise, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
