Duties

Help

As a Lead Military and Family Readiness Specialist, GS-0301-11, you will evaluate command well-being policies and procedures governing programs and make and implement recommendations to increase capabilities and efficiency, and develop solutions to unique situations. Develop the program budget formulations and forecasts of funds for the full scope of the ARNG family readiness program. Establish, develop, and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive information, referral, family and community outreach, volunteer management, financial readiness and follow-up training, education and services in response to Soldier and family readiness needs. Manage and assign tasks to subordinate staff, who may not be geographically co-located, based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, capabilities of employees, and work schedules. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; planning and organizing work; and communicating effectively orally and in writing

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 36 months experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience can be researching, analyzing, developing, coordinating, evaluating, and monitoring the human service delivery system to ensure that family program elements are established and provided to military and family members encompassing service components, overseeing all aspects of volunteer management and training, and life skills/resilience education for ARNG family members, based on needs assessments, organizing, marketing, and monitoring the effectiveness of community capacity building efforts, and giving advice, counsel and/or providing instructions to employees on both work and administrative matters.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Education

Discontinued service retirement annuitants (i.e., retired under section 8336(d)(1) or 8414(b)(1)(A) of title 5 United States Code) appointed to the Department of Defense may elect to be subject to retirement provisions of the new appointment as appropriate.
