Duties

Help

- Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans on a weekly or monthly basis the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials in an organizational segment or group.

- Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes.

- Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans and Career Development plans.

- Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Supports the agency's EEO program through participation in community outreach programs and ensures full cooperation of employees with EEO office officials.

- Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. Ensures employees with access to classified information comply with security directives.

  • This position is emergency essential. In the event of a crisis, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by the proper authority.

  • This position cannot be vacated during national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • This meets the criteria of an Emergency-Essential position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated alternate, be removed from any military recall status. Employees must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment.
  • The work and responsibilities require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  • Superior Quals may be considered.
  • A pre-employment physical is required if hired from Conus.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-2800 - Electrical Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the Ability To Do the Work of a High Voltage Electrician Supervisor without More than Normal Supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
  2. Knowledge of high voltage electrical equipment, components and controls; and high voltage electrical trade principles,
  3. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
  4. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised.
  5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
  6. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
