The primary purpose of this position is to exercise responsibility as USAF Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) security specialist, and NC3 Security Control Assessor (SCA). Complete all required NC3 authorization and cybersecurity requirements and tasks in accordance with DOD, USSTRATCOM, AF, and AFGSC guidance for NC3 systems and the AF NC3 Weapon system.

Duties

Help

  • Mastery of AFGSC cybersecurity for all AF Nuclear IT and Nuclear Command, Control, and Computer (NC3) weapons systems.
  • Develops policies, guidance, and technical requirements for completing NC3 system cybersecurity risk assessments.
  • As the USAF NC3 and Nuclear Security Control Assessor (SCA) Completes "Authorization to Operate" and cybersecurity processes required in support of USSTRATCOM and AFGSC NC3 Systems, in accordance with DOD, USSTRATCOM, and AF guidance.
  • Represents AFGSC at a variety of NC3 Cybersecurity forums and exercises.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience with NC3 and nuclear IT system security principles, methods, regulations, policies, products and services sufficient to develop specifications to ensure compliance with system security requirements and to plan and coordinate the delivery of an NC3 security awareness training program for end users at all levels at the installation in support of Director of USAF NC3 system and National Leadership Command Capability (NLCC) systems.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of a full range of NC3/IT security principles, concepts, practices, products, services, and policy (including systems software, database software, immediate access storage technology), and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating security tools and procedures.
  • Knowledge of authorization and assessment of NC3 and IT systems, and new or revised security measures and countermeasures based on the results of authorization reviews.
  • Knowledge of NC3 system security requirements and techniques for protecting computer and information systems from cyber threats.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions and supervise, mentor and motivate, and appraise staff
  • Ability to plan, organize, and adjust work operations of subordinate organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
