About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Hobby Complex at Wright-Patt AFB. Responsible for the efficient operation of the Consolidated Hobby Shop to include but not limited to financial management, workforce supervision, and program development.

The position includes paid holidays, annual and sick leave accrual, as well as optional participation in Group Health, Dental and Life Insurance plans, Retirement, 401K and Flexible Benefits plans.

Duties

Help

Responsible for the efficient operation of the Consolidated Hobby Shop to include but not limited to financial management, workforce supervision, and program development. Supervise a diverse work force to include personnel in the wood, framing, T-shirt, engraving, auto hobby program and car wash operation. Monitors personnel and contract staff to ensure orders & customer demands are being processed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Develops operating goals and objectives, which include a marketing and program plan on an annual basis. Uses customer feedback and comment cards to develop annual survey. Uses survey data to obtain optimum programming and goals for each sector of the activity. Develops/executes procedures to regularly evaluate results of operations and takes corrective actions. Direct or performs special studies and analysis designed to resolve operational problems. Coordinates with base agencies, i.e., safety, civil engineers, and environment to resolve problems and improve program safety. Maintains a regular schedule of preventive maintenance and replacement of equipment and supplies. Inspects for cleanliness and to make sure all safety equipment is available. Ensures personnel are trained and able to promote safety to all customers and patrons using hazardous equipment. Monitors proper hazardous material/waste collection, storage, and disposal. Supervise personnel, verifies daily clean up, and safety inspections are performed. Does periodic safety checks of equipment, employees, and patrons. Ensures employees are acculturated to the unit activity mission. Provides a regular schedule of employee training. Provides classes and self directed activities for adults and children. Ensures all classes are meeting the instructional goals set of the operation. Publicizes classes and monitors all instructors' contracted of direct staff. Ensures classroom space and supplies are available to effectively conduct classes. Attends base training and meeting pertaining to the latest updates on waste management and disposal. Inspects facilities for compliance on a regular basis. Develops processes and procedures to manage and protect Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and appropriated (APF) assets IAW Air Force and local policy/guidance. Prepares NAF budgets annually. Analyzes financial
performance and develops processes and procedures to ensure the center maintains a positive financial bottom line at all times. Ensures all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual administrative and financial requirements are met. Works with Resource Management Flight Chief to ensure internal controls are monitored. Informs flight chief of any major customer problems and concerns. May be required to work outside normal business. Hours. May be subject to irregular tour of duty. All other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Experience that demonstrates the ability to apply principles, methods, and techniques of recreation, and an understanding of the interest of individuals or groups. Specialized experience must include on or more: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluation community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other skill development programs. Experience in instructing in the principle and mechanic of recreational program planning and management. Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations is desired. Specialized experience demonstrate the applicants' ability to plan and implement new and unique programs and ideas without the benefits of established criteria. Education: Undergraduate of graduate major study of general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of arts and crafts or the experience listed above. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operators' license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Applicant must be able to satisfactorily complete all required background checks.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
