Duties

Help
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Anti-terrorism and Force Protection Develops Wing level Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) programs and policies for ATO approval.
  • Develops processes, methodology, and courses of action to anticipate, prevent, detect, deter, delay, and defeat adversaries and risks associated with mission assets and personnel.
  • Analyzes problems, mission vulnerabilities, security impacts to physical security, and integration difficulties for the security disciplines.
  • Serves as the technical authority on matters involving Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP).
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Antiterrorism and Force Protection to provide effective guidance, training, and direction to assigned organizations and activities.
  • Maintains the installation’s AT/FP-related vulnerability databases by ensuring accuracy of data entry, content, and completeness.
  • Plans, conducts, performs, or coordinates on site security studies, projects, assessments, and training activities in relationship to antiterrorism and force protection requirements.
  • Performs and enforces the full spectrum of Police Officer duties within the assigned federal jurisdiction.
  • Incumbent is required to meet all requirements of Federal, DoD, AF, MAJCOM, State, and local level rules and regulations to maintain POST certification qualification.
  • Performs the full range of installation perimeter access control duties.
  • Patrols restricted/controlled areas, responds to security incidents and performs immediate visual assessments.
  • Perform emergency response and incident command and control.
  • Investigates accidents, summons rescue squads and firefighters, and redirects onlookers from scene.
  • Ensures compliance with requirements for the protection of installation resources.
  • Documents survey findings, deficiencies, and compensatory measures within formal reports for dissemination to appropriate parties.
  • Monitors the installation crime prevention and suppression program.
  • Provides training and advice on crime prevention/suppression and protection of resources.
  • Incumbent is responsible for the management and administration of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) program.
  • Manages the Reports and Analysis Program.

  • Advanced in hire rate may be granted to set pay above the minimum rate of the grade for a new employee if he/she possesses superior qualifications relevant to the positions' requirements and is essential to accomplish the agency's mission.
  • Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position.
  • The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible.
  • Appointments of retired members of the Armed Forces as National Guard employees within 180 days of retirement requires a waiver approved by the Adjutant General of Missouri before an effective date can be established.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, required physical fitness/physical agility tests, meet established hearing standards, and discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • The incumbent must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements.

Qualifications

GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS 10 grade level that provided knowledge of security principles, concepts and methodologies to evaluate state security procedures; experience developing instructions; knowledge of security procedures to perform inspections and risk vulnerability assessment analysis; knowledge of effective security programs; knowledge of operation security, communications security, personnel security; and the ability to provide advice and training to personnel.

Additional Conditions of Employment:

  • Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties. Employee is required to obtain and maintain required security clearance. Subject to annual duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard. Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessment. May be required to wear protective clothing such as coats, boots, and vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g., respirator mask).
  • Must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Must pass formal law enforcement training school as outlined upon selection. Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties. Must obtain and maintain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care and/or Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
  • Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques, and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations.
  • The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as running in pursuits or emergency responses, long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. Employees engage in such exertions when responding to alarms and walking foot patrols in and around buildings. This position may require common physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity and the strength to pursue and detain uncooperative suspects.
  • Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g., Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by TAG.
