Duties

Help
  • Serve as a behavioral health case manager on a multidisciplinary team, specializing in identifying high-risk and high-cost diagnoses.
  • Facilitate patient success through direct intervention and advocacy.
  • Observe patient behavior and response to treatment and adjusting levels of care in consultation with the broader healthcare team to ensure all diagnosed conditions are addressed.
  • Coordinate care between treating facilities, command, and medical teams (within DHA guidance), as well as integrating family support and personalized safety plans
  • Coordinates the weekly At-Risk/Multi-Disciplinary Treatment Planning (ARCT/MDTP) meeting.
  • Provide direct training, counseling, and clinical assistance to a wide range of personnel
  • Serve as a liaison for the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) with local, state, and federal agencies

  • This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties may require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

  • A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
  • Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work other than normal duty hours to support non-duty hour classes.
  • This position may require the incumbent to possess a valid operator’s license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
  • This position may require the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Basic Requirement for Behavioral Health Case Management:

Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting behavioral health assessments or interviews; coordinating behavioral health care plan with multidisciplinary team; and evaluating appropriateness, quality, or cost effectiveness of care. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education
