Tour of duty for this position is: Monday thru Friday: 7:00 a.m. thru 3:30 p.m.

This is an Essential-Employee Position. The employee will be required to report to work during emergencies AND inclement weather situations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Establishes deadlines, priorities and work sequences and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by higher level management.

Ensures that each employee has a full workload and checks when completed.

Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. And Initiates proposals for formal disciplinary action as needed. Maintains production reports and records.

Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assigns duties to and evaluates their job performance.

Counsels employees on problems and adjust informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives.

Provides leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements. And practices non-discriminatory and non-retaliatory employment actions and prevents unlawful discrimination or harassment.

Materials Handler Duties:

Assists and supervises subordinate Materials Handlers with unloading and uncrating furniture and furnishings.

Ensures items are delivered to and from the warehouse, storage areas and customer offices using dollies, fork lift trucks, hand trucks, pallet jacks and other materials handling equipment, as appropriate to the item size.

Operates a forklift truck with a load capacity of less than 10,000 pounds and a height capacity of 168 inches to transport materials.

Regulates movement of the truck and forks, being careful to avoid overloading or improper stacking or movement of materials.

Routinely checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE and performs other related duties as assigned.

Must possess a current valid D.C. or State Driver’s License.

AND:

 A Forklift operation requires a valid driver’s license and a Certificate as a Powered Industrial Truck operator for the Forklift in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.178(1)(6).

- Assist the supervisor, and supervise workers by providing leadership to materials handling operations. (ex: establish deadlines, work schedules and checks work completion). 

-Performs non-supervisory material handling tasks. (ex: unloading and uncrating furniture and furnishings, ensures items are delivered to and from the warehouse, storage areas  and operate forklift trucks).

- performs administrative and technical supervisory functions. (ex: assist with planning work assignments, initiate disciplinary actions, evaluate job performance).
