Duties

Help

The SESD operates in a fast-paced, high demand environment, providing support to some of the senior-most leadership of the Department of War. Security responsibilities include Industrial Security. Information Security, Operations Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, SCI Administration, Mission Assurance, Controlled Unclassified Information, Insider Threat, Classification Review, and Counterintelligence Awareness and Reporting.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Plan, organize, and direct the full range of activities for the Onboarding Management Team (OMT), exercising day-to-day responsibility for both the Security and Customer Relations Management (CRM) Branches.

  • Provide executive-level leadership and supervision to a diverse team of civilian and contractor personnel, managing workload distribution, developing performance plans, and identifying training needs to ensure the efficient and effective onboarding of new hires.

  • Serve as the senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security and customer relations management for the entire onboarding lifecycle, resolving complex problems and providing authoritative advice to senior leadership on policy, program improvements, and IT modernization initiatives.

  • Drive the streamlining and integration of security and customer service processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and quality through new initiatives, strategic messaging, and the implementation of automation solutions.

  • Oversee and direct all aspects of the bi-weekly New Employee Orientation events, coordinating logistics, briefings, and all related tasks to ensure a seamless and positive Day-1 experience for new WHS and OSD personnel.

  • Establish and maintain critical relationships with mission partners and stakeholders-including WHS, PFPA, DISA, and DMDC-to collaborate on enterprise-level initiatives and ensure Day-1 functionality for all new hires.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your experience:

  1. Managing and/or directing a complex, multi-disciplinary program and providing technical and administrative supervision to a team responsible for executing security and customer service functions;
  2. Serving as a senior subject matter expert (SME) on onboarding and security processes, responsible for resolving major conflicts in policy, streamlining operations, and providing authoritative advice and recommendations to senior leadership on program improvements;
  3. Leading collaborative efforts with multiple internal and external stakeholder organizations to integrate and coordinate complex, enterprise-level initiatives and ensure the effective delivery of mission-critical services.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, as part of their application package, a "certification" of active service in lieu of a DD-214, indicating the service member is otherwise eligible and will be discharged or released within 120 days from the date of submission..
