Duties

Help
  • You will conduct lectures, discussions, guided conferences and demonstration methods to present law enforcement, investigative techniques, procedures and practical application sessions.
  • You will assist with organizing, scheduling and coordinating training courses that maximize individual competencies or maintain performance levels.
  • You will develop Performance Objectives and Standards to aide in identifying training needs and requirements of each student; ensure the knowledge and skills are developed in current concepts and techniques in Law Enforcement and Security.
  • You will provide classroom studies and instructions on use of law enforcement equipment and application of techniques.
  • You will serve as training instructor and subject matter expert in the areas of law and evidence, terrorism, laws of arrest, search and seizure, firearms training and qualifications, basic criminology, accident investigations, police operations etc.
  • You will coordinate, develop and maintain effective relationship with the training community of various Federal, state and local law enforcement, intelligence and security agencies.
  • Provide instruction in FirstAid/CPR/AED, Emergency Vehicle Operation, Active Shooter and other law enforcement requirements; instruct in Firearms safety and conduct the Weapons Qualification; test for weapons proficiency.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Call back and emergency overtime may be requirements of this position. Work may include assignment to train second, third or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays.
  • Must successfully complete the Marine Corps Range Safety Officer Course and Basic Instructor Certification Course within 1 year from date or employment.
  • Must be able to pass a Medical/Physical Examination.
  • You must satisfactorily pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Presenting formal and informal instruction on basic mathematics and electronics theory; and, reviewing course materials for effectiveness, technical accuracy and compliance with directives/methodologies.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion a master's or equivalent graduate degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

Completion of two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

2) Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor;
3) Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Instructor;
4) Speed Measuring Instructor for Radar and Lidar;
5) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor;
6) Gas Mask Fit Test Certification.
