Duties

Help
  • Provides Pre-and Post Deployment health assessments as well as Preventive Health Assessments (PHA).
  • Formulates full treatment and management regimens based on sound diagnoses consistent with current and/or evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
  • Provides some sub-specialty services within current granted privileges to patients encountered in the event that consistent medical specialty support is not available due to deployment requirements.
  • Provides advice by telephone and/or in person to other physicians, non-physician providers, and nursing and para-professional staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and non-urgent medical problems.
  • Documents clinical encounters and patient instructions into the medical record via current electronic medical record system and prepares appropriate clinical narrative summaries for both civilian and military occupational programs in a timely manner.
  • Provides clinical and administrative leadership to the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team.
  • Facilitates and manages full spectrum of professional and patient care activities for the PCMH team.
  • Serves as member of the professional medical staff and complies with hospital plans and policies to meet the accrediting agency, The Joint Commission (TJC), requirements.
  • Provides direct primary outpatient care to include gynecologic, prenatal obstetric, and geriatric care.
  • Performs ambulatory surgical procedures including but not limited to casting/splinting, suturing, excisional skin biopsies, vasectomies.
  • Outpatient procedures: Loop Excision Electrocautery Procedure, colposcopy, micro excisional dermatologic techniques, trigger point injection, joint aspiration and injections, multiple layer skin closures, IUD and Nexplanon insertion/removal, etc.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • This position requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or must be able to pass certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, tuberculosis, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is designated as having regular and recurring contact with children under the age of 18 and is subject to requirements of DoDI 1402.05 and AR 600-78.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position has a lifting requirement of 44 lbs.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Physician (Family Practice):

Degree:
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United State.

Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Residency Training
: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Family Practice, Family Medicine) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.
