Duties

Help

Supports departing, continuing, and newly elected Senators and their staff during the biennial transition to a new Congress. Serves as the primary point of contact to all stakeholders for the purpose of transitioning office spaces. Develops and reviews written materials such as reports, program overviews, and outreach material. Creates and maintains reports, website content, forms and dashboards for congressional transitions and inaugural ceremonies. Plans, implements, and facilitates training sessions; includes researching and collating of information on a wide variety of topics and the development and facilitation of presentations. Coordinates and supports ad hoc projects and special events. Assists in identifying support resources; performs outreach efforts throughout the Senate. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Work Experience

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in physical change management.

Required Special Skills/ Knowledge

  • As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. 
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions, including policies and regulations set by the Senate Rules Committee and the Senate Committee on Ethics, and the Architect of the Capitol pertaining to facilities management. 
  • Knowledge of office equipment, computers, relevant software/Web applications, and spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to communicate and manage complex projects with diplomacy, tact, and professional bearing.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills and ability to formulate written content on a variety of subjects in a range of styles.
  • Ability to conduct research and accurately prepare and process a variety of reports/documents.
  • Ability to obtain Change Management certification.

Desired Qualifications

  • A demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a professional environment, preferably in the United States Senate or other government settings.
  • Experience working in a congressional office.
  • Progressive experience in project management or change management.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and improve systems and workflows that increase efficiency and service quality.
  • High degree of communication competency that allows for succinct and digestible information to be dispersed to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and resources effectively, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Skill in analyzing operational challenges, identifying solutions, and implementing process improvements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Working Conditions

  • Since the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.
  • This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted
  • Moderate (carrying of items less than 50 pounds).
  • Work requires frequent physical effort walking, bending, crawling, and standing for long durations.
  • Physical dexterity in the use of fingers and limbs in the operation of hand equipment.

Education

High School Diploma/ GED.
