Duties

Help

This position's primary responsibility is to perform check out duties. The position may be assigned to various Non-appropriated fund activities in which customers pay for items and/or services. Sells a variety of merchandise items such as prepackaged snacks, drinks, candy, etc. Coordinates the sale of food snack items and the preparation and sale of short order items. Ensures the proper preparation, portioning, display and price marketing of food items and adherence to correct receipt and pricing procedures. Maintains sales records and accountable documents. Maintains security of work areas, cash, fixed assets and merchandise inventory. Ensure compliance with fire, safety, sanitation and security regulations. Operates cash register, rings up the sale, receives money and makes change, processes credit card sale, or charges to member's account. At the end of each tour of duty clears the cash register, turns over cash and supporting documents. Performs daily inventories. Maintains a clean and orderly working area. In a Food Activity: Performs check-out duties such as ringing up food, beverages and merchandise by individual item; totaling sales; processing credit card sales; receiving money; and making change. May perform related food service duties such as assisting in setting up the serving line, replenishing beverage dispensers, chopping lettuce, tomatoes, etc., and ensuring kitchen staff is advised when buffet line needs replenishment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
This is an entry level position. No previous experience required. Ideal candidates would possess the skill or ability to perform common arithmetic problems to make change when receiving payments from customers. Knowledge of, ability or skill in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes (1) direct handling of cash items, and (2) use of cash accountability control methods. Skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to obtain a valid health card.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
