As a TRAINING TECHNICIAN GS-1702-09 (TITLE 5) you will, verify member eligibility, course availability, and validates school orders, travel orders, PCS procedures, and pre-requisites are properly complied with in-accordance with National Guard Bureau (NGB) guidance. Manage formal schools training budget, to include all formal schools and Mission Essential Skills Training (MEST). Assist in all aspects of Education, Training and Distance Learning Programs. Provide education and training advisory services to commanders and staff on all education and training programs. Assist with the development of education and training instructional products. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this positions.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Work may potentially require the employee to be exposed to search and recovery operations in direct response to a military mishap or when providing support to Civil Authorities during an Incident Response as part of domestic operations.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
  • This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • Positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in training centers, training programs, schools, and units, experience in conducting or developing education and training programs, experience conducting, supervising, or developing education or training programs; an understanding of the Air Force education and training policy requirements; experience in working programs to include developmental education, voluntary education, advanced academic education, promotion testing, and libraries, knowledge of audio-visual presentation, educational tests, and measurements, and instructing techniques.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months specialized experience or knowledge of Air Force education and training programs regarding their principles and procedures, experience in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products; effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures, experience in scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; or assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; and military personnel classification system and policies, experience in the capabilities of communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts, experience as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference event.
