Duties

Help

Duty 1: Develops and directs MAJCOM policy and advocates/influences Air Staff adoption of MAJCOM policy AF Wide.

Duty 2: Manages program implementation through staff assistance visits, Flag and Dynamic Force Employment (DFE) Exercise Planning and Attendance, data collection, and written reports.

Duty 3: Leads and/or attends multiple Working Groups, Planning Forums, and Conferences as senior functional representative for the Division at the MAJCOM and HAF level.

Duty 4: Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

  • The work will require moderate travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of the mission, organizational structures, and CONOP of the MAJCOM's future mission support programs. Expert knowledge of a wide range of qualitative or quantitative methods to improve complex force generation, force posturing, deployment and employment processes and systems or program effectiveness. Comprehensive knowledge of policies, concepts, and procedures affecting the MAJCOM and Security Forces community's ability to meet future operating concepts to effectively achieve Air Force level program(s).

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of security and various mission support disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the MAJCOMS ACE CONOP to include: Force Management, Force Posturing, Time Phased Force Deployment, Mission Essential Tasks, Multi Capable Airman Principles, Information Security, Physical Security, and Operations Security, in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities.
2. Knowledge of established principles, practices, procedures, regulations and directives as it relates to Security Forces Organization, Training, in support of contingency operations.
3. Skill in justifying, defending, and recommending decisions affecting the future use of Security Forces for ACE to senior MAJCOM and HAF staff officials.
4. Skill in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating future plans a programs to meet conceptual mission requirements and improve the MAJCOM level program. This includes exercise planning, execution and evaluation.
5. Ability to quickly assimilate into working groups at the MAJCOM and HAF level, and understand basic principles affecting a wide range of mission support functions. Able to synthesize data and project solution on a future timeline and backwards plan.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small sized organization and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to successfully accomplish the mission.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
