Duties

Help

This is administrative work to lead and coordinate educational strategies and outreach initiatives for Senators’ offices, Committees, and the Secretary of the Senate’s administrative units. The Deputy Archivist is primarily responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating archival and records management training and outreach programs, and engaging with the Senate community. While prioritizing expert guidance and stakeholder outreach, the role also oversees the creation, review, and implementation of records disposition schedules in accordance with Title 44 of the U.S. Code, Section 2118. These combined efforts ensure the proper preservation, disposition, and long-term access to Senate records and Senators’ papers. Work is bound by Secretary of the Senate policies and procedures, the U.S. Senate Handbook, and the Senate Ethics Manual, but requires independent judgment in setting priorities and handling assignments.
