Duties

Help
  • Plans weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
  • Selects workers and assign tasks to be performed.
  • Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures to subordinates.
  • Investigates work-related problems (e.g., low productivity) to identify causes and implements corrective actions.
  • Interviews candidates for vacancies and recommend selections.
  • Counsels employees on problems and adjusts informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • CDL Class A and B and passenger endorsement, must be obtained within 6 months of date of employment.
  • Incumbent will be required to wear chemical protective equipment, respirators, safety glasses, etc.
  • Pre-appointment and annual physical is required.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Ammunition Plant Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Which include explaining methods and procedures for the production and manufacturing of chemical or toxic filled munitions; and identifying problems to report to management to receive instructions on the corrective action. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Work Environment: Work is usually performed indoors, or outdoors in covered areas or passageways which provide some protection. Wears protective clothing as required including flameproof coveralls and cap, cotton underwear and socks, conductive sole shoes, non-pervious gloves, NIOSH approved full face chemical respirator with toxic dust filter. Is subject to exposure to fumes from acids, solvents, other industrial type chemicals and to explosions and flash fires. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea. When monitoring production line operations subject to discomfort from standing and walking on concrete floors for long periods of time
