Help

Under the direction of the Athletics Director, serves as Intramural Sports Coordinator with overall responsibility for the operation, integration, coordination, and oversight of a comprehensive, year-round, Intramural Sports Program, in accordance with Semper Fit requirements to include a variety of recurring and non-recurring events such as unit sport leagues, tournaments, skills challenges, special events, Commander's Cup challenges, and outreach opportunities. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs a series of community relations sports events between the local community and the active duty military, civilians and their dependents be conducted on a regular basis. As required, compile and review weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual data metrics to the Athletic Director. Publicize MARADMIN announcements pertaining to All-Marine Sports aiding potential candidates in contacting All-Marine Coaches, Captains and Representatives. 

Establishes policy, procedures and SOPs with operational assistance and reviews against developed standards for the overall Intramural Sports Program to support program goals and continuously evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing activities and varies the program as necessary. Monitors program participation and formulates plans based on measurement, evaluation, and feedback.

Ensures volunteers follow risk management procedures (i.e., abuse prevention, identification, and reporting procedures; accident prevention, etc.). Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Ensures playing surface is properly maintained, safe, and ready for play. Responsible for scheduling of courts, track, and fields, and regularly inspects for repairs, cleanliness, etc. Ensures compliance with fire, safety and other environmental issues. Ensures compliance with security directives and safety standards in the work area. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.

Oversees and executes the Intramural Sports Program budget. Develops annual operational and capital budgets along with supporting data for inclusion in overall program plans formulated by higher organizational levels. Executes the budget to within a 5% variance and for monthly and year-end variance reports. Tracks and analyzes expenditures and assures accounting of all funds and assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A minimum of three years' experience that demonstrates work experience directly related to the planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports. This experience may have been gained managing or administering a sports program in a community, industrial activity, or secondary school or college; planning, teaching or evaluating a physical education curriculum for secondary or higher academic levels; or managing, umpiring, or officiating at amateur or professional athletic events, competitions, or games. 

2. A Bachelor's degree with a major in sport management, recreation or physical education from an accredited college may be substituted for two years of experience. 

3. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with subordinates, supervisory and management officials and patrons.

4. Demonstrated experience with computer programs such as Windows, Google Chrome and Microsoft Office applications. 

5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. 

6. Ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds.

Additional Conditions of Employment:
1. Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include weekends, holidays, early mornings and late nights. 

2. Must be able to obtain and maintain SOFA driver's license and a Government Vehicle Operator's Permit within the first 60 days of employment.
