Summary

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the JBSA Lackland Outdoor Recreation.

This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hrs./week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.

Frequently lifts and carries parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is performed inside and outside, in all kinds of weather conditions.

Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to assist the Maintenance Supervisor in the performance of general inspection, maintenance, check-in and check-out, monitors inventory supply of parts, and cleaning of equipment. Assists patrons in all phases of safety regulations concerning the use of rental equipment. Helps make minor repairs on equipment. Reports equipment problems and failures to supervisors. Maintains maintenance records on all equipment, including inspections and repairs made. Performs a variety of simple, manual tasks involving the use of simple hand tools and equipment. Frequently lifts and carries parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifting assemblies weighing over 50 pounds. Requires standing, bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, and working in tight spaces and awkward positions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience or training which provided a basic knowledge of minor mechanical and electrical systems and a general understanding of maintenance and repair work. Must be able to follow established safety standards and procedures and be able to follow specific oral instructions. Must be able to use hand tools. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical to include annual audio test. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must possess a current valid driver's license. Experience with tire rotation, mounting, repairing and balancing is highly desired. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of wide range of hand tools both non-mechanical and mechanical
2. Effective communication both verbal and written
3. Ability to work independently
4. Skills with range of electric and small engine landscaping equipment
5. Ability to use power tools, hand tools and specialized machinery to perform maintenance tasks.
