Duties

Help

  • Manages AMC/MAF Logistics Programs concerning Materiel Management, and Supply Chain.
  • Serves as the AMC/MAF and AFTRANS advisor to Air Force and Department of Defense agencies concerning AMC/MAF Materiel Management and Logistics Readiness Policy.
  • Represents AMC/MAF and AFTRANS interests with a variety of worldwide conferences, meetings, workshops, installations, and functional area organizations.
  • Performs as a Senior Action Officer.

  • Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. Overseas travel may occasionally be required.
  • Air Force Logistics Readiness experience (Logistics Readiness Officer, Materiel Management, and/or Equipment Management) is desired.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • May be required to support the AMC Commander's Battle Staff (CBS), Operations Planning Teams (OPTs), Logistics Readiness Cell (LRC), or other contingency support functions.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Extensive knowledge of Logistics Readiness processes related to Materiel Management, Supply Chain, Logistics Readiness programs, and integration, along with a wide range of federal and agency Logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations and laws applicable to a full range of logistics management responsibilities in order to accomplish a variety of complex work assignments and or to identify, analyze, and resolve logistics management integration, coordination, policy, guidance, procedure, total support requirement issues or problems; Knowledge of all organizations including DoD, Joint Staff, USTRANSCOM, USAF and Defense Agencies dealing with Logistics Readiness and Materiel Management impacting AMC/MAF particularly those organizations that relate to USAF operational employment concepts, AMC/MAF plans, concepts, Logistics, transportation, and supply, in order to plan, coordinate, advise, monitor and execute; Knowledge of a wide range of logistics concepts and logistics planning to provide technical guidance to the development of program goals, plans, policies, and procedures and work plans dealing with the development of strategic visions, to evaluate overall logistics process effectiveness, and to recommend methods to help optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of USAF, AMC/MAF, and AFTRANS programs, to include: Mobility Readiness Spares Packages (MRSP), MAJCOM level Support or Cross Servicing Agreements (ACSA), Individual Protective Equipment (IPE), Program Management activities, the Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DODAAC) management, the hazardous materials program, an understanding of Contract Logistics Support (CLS) requirements, and other Logistics Readiness associated programs affecting spares availability, materiel distribution and transportation processes.
  2. Knowledge of Air Force and command operational goals and objectives; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones and the relationship of carious command entities in overall program planning and execution.
  3. Knowledge of Materiel Management, maintenance and logistics sustainment program management principles, policy, procedures, techniques and practices.
  4. Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or qualitative methods to participate in the assessment and improvement of command level plans and programs.
  5. Skill and ability to analyze data and determine equipment, maintenance and logistics requirements and objectives. Establish relationships between participants involved in implementing policy.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
