Summary

This position is located in the Admiral Baker Clubhouse within the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department of the Southwest Region. The primary purpose of this position is to sell snack food and beverage items to patrons of the snack bar. Also prepares simple foods and prepackaged snacks that require heating and ensure cleanliness of snack bar. Incumbent is assigned to Admiral Baker.

Duties

Help

  • Performs assigned duties and provides necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information and support of recreation and fitness programs.
  • Sells food items operating a cash register according to standard cash control procedures, computes charges, collects payment, and makes change. Is responsible for own cash fund, completes daily activity report (DAR), and secures deposit of daily cash receipts.
  • Maintains assigned areas in a neat, sanitary, and orderly manner. Cleans daily assigned work area, kitchen equipment, counters observing all sanitary, and safety regulations. Ensures proper security and closing procedures are followed to prevent fire and/or theft.
  • Serves customers at counter, receives orders, prepares and serves fast food items such as frankfurters, chili, nachos, etc. Makes coffee according to number of servings desired and in accordance with established procedures for timing and brewing. Performs related duties including setting up food service line, replenishing beverage dispenser and making popcorn.
  • Ensures the proper preparation, display and marking of food items and adherence to correct receipt and pricing procedures are pleasant, courteous manner.
  • Ensures that adequate stock levels are maintained, requisitions merchandise, and conducts daily inventories. Maintains security of cash and merchandize inventory.
  • Assists in the conduct of a thorough and comprehensive safety program for all areas.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
  • Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds without assistance and occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.
  • Work schedule is flexible and will vary as required by the needs of the program to include night, weekend, and holiday shifts as well as split days off.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic food handling techniques.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge to read and understand written material.
  • Knowledge of sanitation requirements and personal hygiene standards.
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Must develop a working knowledge of the activities and assigned area of responsibility.

The IRC includes a check of the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) records in the Alcohol and Drug Management Information Tracking System (ADMITS) database, a check of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) records in the Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS), and an installation security/base check via the Navy Justice Information System (NJIS) database and/or other law enforcement systems. This information will be used to determine suitability for the applicant in accordance with criteria for automatic and presumptive disqualifiers, per DoDI 1402.05.

Per Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.05. Background Checks on Individuals in DoD Child Care Services Programs, incumbents will be automatically disqualified for a conviction in either civilian or military court (to include any general, special, or summary court-martial conviction or if they received non-judicial punishment [under Article 15 or chapter 47 of Title 10, U.S.C]) for any of the following: a sexual offense, any criminal offense involving a child victim, or a felony drug offense. Additionally, the incumbent will be automatically disqualified if he/she has been held to be negligent in a civil adjudication or administrative proceeding concerning the death of or serious injury to a child or dependent person entrusted to the individual's care.

Non-U.S. citizens with fewer than three years of recent residential history in the U.S. may be determined ineligible for employment.
