***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP***

This position is located in the Directorate of Plans, Operations Training and Security (DPOTS) of an Army National Guard Garrison Training Center (GTC). The incumbent performs safety, range control and maintenance tasks.
DUTIES
1. Assists the Site Range Communication Officer in maintaining close coordination with the using units; as well as Commanders of other services and operations involved in the use of the range area. In this function, responsible for the enforcement of operational procedures jointly agreed to with other agencies when the assigned range officer is not available. Particular emphasis is given to range safety and control procedures to assure proper operational practices are observed. When required, oversees personnel assigned to the Site Range Operations and personnel of other governmental and civilian agencies to accomplish the range mission.

2. Responsible for repair and operations of range communications, including wire and cable facilities, range radio communications and avionics equipment. Responsible for range area maintenance activities to include assignment of repairmen to specific functions commensurate with their training; observes performance of subordinates, giving technical aid as required; insures conformance with prescribed standards of quality and safety; determines type end extent of repairs required to ranges and schedules repair work. Maintains close working relationship with the Site Engineer on materials and special equipment.

3. Plans workloads, schedules work assignments, establishes production end maintenance controls, improves operating procedures and repair techniques to effect range operations for using units. Directs the accomplishment of all administrative duties associated with ranges to include, but notlimited to maintenance of necessary correspondence, records and report files, etc., maintenance of pertinent regulation, policy procedures and technical order files.

4. Formulates plans and programs to carry out the concepts of range requirements outlined by the Range Officer.
