Duties

Help
  • Inspects circuit breakers and fuses for proper condition and size, replacing defective breakers.
  • Constructs, installs, repairs or modifies items and structures, such as, panels, bins, concrete forms, dry walls, shelves, framework, doors, finished paneling, interior and exterior trim, bulletin boards, cabinets, bookcases and counters.
  • Monitors water filtration equipment and gauges according to prescribed schedules.
  • Inspects dam and appurtenant structures and equipment using standard inspection checklists.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair and reports major equipment malfunctions to work leader or supervisor.
  • Maintains daily log on operating data such as water inflow and outflow, gate settings, changes in water storage, and any unusual occurrences in daily operation.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Possession of or the ability to acquire the following licenses: a state driver's license; a Corps of Engineers boat operator's license; and a fork lift operator's license.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends depending on the needs of the project to which the employee is assigned.
  • Incumbent is required to work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.).
  • May be required to have a valid CPR certificate and first responder (or equivalent) certificate.
  • May be required to obtain a water treatment plant, Class I or II, operator's license.
  • May be required to work in both non-permit and permit required confined space and implement proper rescue and entry techniques.
  • May be required to be properly trained and/or operate the following equipment: Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs), escape packs, atmospheric monitoring devices and fall protection equipment.
  • Required to wear prescribed uniform as identified in regulation ER 1130-2-550, dated 15 November 1996.
  • Covered under the DA/USACE Random Drug Testing program based upon operation of dam/flood control gates (USACE Specific Criterion).
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have experience as a maintenance worker performing common dam operation, maintenance inspection and repair work on a continuing basis on mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and/or other appurtenant structures and property at park and flood control dam facilities under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress to ensure they are property performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
