Duties

Help

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Logistics and Engineering Directorate, ensuring that Nuclear Stockpile Division complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represents (the organization) with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
  • Represents the Nuclear Logistics Branch, Nuclear Stockpile Division, HQ AFGSC, and the Air Force as the Air Force's Service Logistics Agent (SLA).
  • Provides the Chief, Nuclear Stockpile Division and the Director, Logistics and Engineering Directorate, at HQs AFGSC with periodic and comprehensive status of Nuclear Logistics Branch programs, major challenges/issues, workload schedules and goals/objectives/milestones.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position under the coverage of the Air Force Civilian Personnel Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is subject to random drug testing (IAW HQ USAF letter date 29 Jan 90).
  • Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position.
  • The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or (Cont'd)
  • (Cont'd) office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve.(IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve").
  • This position has been designated as an acquisition critical position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program. Work requires Life Cycle Logistics Level 3 certification and must be obtained within 24months of employment.
  • This is a Centrally Managed Position in the Logistics Career Field.
  • "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1 year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance with access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI),other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. A favorable suitability determination is required before appointment".

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Logistics Management Series, 0346.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to nuclear logistics and the nuclear stockpile; Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization; Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DOD and Air Force organizations to provide command level staff guidance and/or nuclear stockpile information; Knowledge of logistics as it relates to nuclear weapons and nuclear weapon support systems. It is desired incumbent has a bachelor's and master's degree in business or a technical specialty.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  1. Knowledge of policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to nuclear logistics and the nuclear stockpile.
  2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  5. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DOD and Air Force organizations to provide command level staff guidance and/or nuclear stockpile information.
  6. Knowledge of logistics as it relates to nuclear weapons and nuclear weapon support systems. It is desired incumbent has a bachelor's and master's degree in business or a technical specialty.
  7. Skill and ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of sustainment funding and resource requirements. Broad range of resource management, production, logistics, and supply program relationships and related processes.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
