Duties

Help
  • The incumbent serves as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
  • Supervisory Police Officers are responsible for responses to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
  • Operate motor vehicles which may involve high speed pursuit of suspects. Conducts investigative stops, questions, detains, and issues traffic citations as required.
  • Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
  • Protect personnel, material, tactical military assets, and high value assets by executing daily RAM and supplemental anti-terrorism measures during increased force protection conditions.
  • Provide input into the development of performance standards and recommend employees ratings, awards, actions and evaluations.
  • Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Federal law requires the removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies.
  • The incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to include the requirement to wear a uniform and/or maintain a high state of uniform appearance and personal hygiene.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification, and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations, or statutes
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General, IAW AR 190-56.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • May need to serve a one year Supervisory probation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes instructing employees in specific law enforcement tasks and techniques in accordance with established procedures; Analyze facts to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspects to trial; Enforce laws to protect personnel and property; and Perform law enforcement duties to include collect evidence, conduct searches, administer first aid, and prepare police reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualifications requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
