Help
  • Develops and manages all aspects of the organizational physical security program and evaluates existing programs for adequacy and efficiency.
  • Communicates clearly when presenting authoritative interpretations to management officials, supervisors and members across the enterprise.
  • Develops and administers security awareness training programs. Ability to communicate clearly when presenting authoritative interpretations and guidance to the management officials, supervisors and members across the enterprise.
  • Technical knowledge of personnel, information, operations, physical, industrial, security to independently plan, develop, and implement enterprise-wide security policies and procedures.
  • Advises management and procurement officials on industrial security requirements, reviews security documentation to identify the level and extent of protection required for the projects, systems, and information at organization and project sites.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

  • Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position.
  • The incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • In accordance with DoD Instructions 5210.87, Assignment to Presidential Support Activities (PSAs), the incumbent must be cleared for Category Two Presidential Support Duty based on a "Yankee White" Sigle Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
  • In accordance with DoD Manual 3305.13_M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification, this position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP).
  • Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Program.
  • The incumbent of this position is required to obtain and maintain Tier 1 Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • Presidential Support Duty (PSD) approval is required. Prior to reporting for duty, the incumbent must be approved for Presidential Support Duty (PSD) in accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5210.55 (PSD Category II, minimum).
  • Prior to selection, the applicant must be pre-screened for PSD suitability. The applicant must maintain PSD approval to remain eligible to hold the position qualifications.

Qualifications


One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Time-in-Grade (GS-12): Current or former federal employees who have held a GS-11 position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.

To be hired at the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level is defined as having experience in the implementation of security plans/programs to include analysis, system design, and equipment development.

Time-in-Grade (GS-13): Current or former federal employees who have held a GS-12 position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.

To be hired at the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-12 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level is defined as experience in working various security programs, which includes possessing work experience in at least two of the following security programs: personnel, physical, information, technology, cyber, operations, and industrial security; OR experience working with special access programs (SAP); AND experience protecting and classifying sensitive information.


You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level.

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.

  • A one year probationary or trial period may be required.
