United States (U.S.) Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. Duties

Help
  • Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).
  • Gathers and moves handcarts of bulk laundry consisting of soiled linen or laundry items to the washroom. Sorts laundry by type and fabric and loads and unloads items in and out of washing machines and dryers.
  • Operates commercial laundry machines to wash bulk laundry items. Ensures proper loading capacity, cleaning solvents and correct settings for operation of machinery.
  • Folds, stacks, bundles, tags, and delivers finished items. Operates a press for ironing. Maintains stock and the cleanliness of laundry area.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Required standing and walking on hard surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items weighing up to 50 pounds, e.g., pulling wet laundry from washer, pushing heavy carts, and lifting bundles of laundry.
  • Works inside in areas that are noisy, hot and humid. Exposed to the possibility of bruises from moving carts or falls on wet floors in the washing area.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  1. Ability to lead or supervise employees engaged in laundering duties.
  2. Possess skill and knowledge of loading capacities of laundry tumblers, extractors, or conditioners and the performance capabilities of laundry equipment and the types and purposes of cleaning solvents.
  3. Ability you able to stand and walk on hard surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
  4. Ability lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds to include pulling wet laundry from washer, pushing heavy carts and lifting bundles of laundry.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), incentives and differentials will not be paid, with the exception of post allowance, contingent upon eligibility.
