Duties

Help
  • Conducts patient assessments and delivers Primary Care Behavioral Health appropriate biopsychosocial evaluations using advanced knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices in clinical, health, and primary care psychology.
  • Conduct brief assessments and formulates evidence-based interventions appropriate to a primary care setting for a wide range of behavioral health conditions, chronic medical conditions, and health behaviors affecting medical conditions.
  • Assists with implementation and monitoring of treatment plans with Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and other primary care team members.
  • Provide ongoing consultation services for a subset of patients who would benefit from periodic, regular behavioral health monitoring and intervention for sustaining improvement and preventing relapse.
  • Works to increase overall penetration into the enrolled clinic population by targeting common conditions with behavioral components that are amenable to Behavioral Health Clinic (BHC) intervention.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires successful completion of mandatory DHA PCBH BHC training confirmed by a DHA PCBH Program Manager within 3 months of hire (unless DHA is unable to provide the training within 3 months).
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • A pre-placement medical examination required
  • This position is designated as having regular and recurring contact with children under the age of 18 and is subject to requirements of DoDI 1402.05 and AR 600-78.
  • This position requires immunization screening to determine inoculation for Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap), Hepatitis B series, Chickenpox titer and skin test screening for Tuberculosis (TB).
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position requires that applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Clinical):
Education: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts with your application package.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations for behavioral health patients, offering individual or group clinical counseling, and creating behavioral health treatment recommendations or plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Special Placement Factor:

Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (Note: You must provide a copy of the license with your application package.)

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
