Duties

Help
  • Performs in-depth research and analysis of major discrepancies determined as a result of inventories, denials, letter of investigations, inventory balance and location discrepancies relevant to receipt, shipment, and storage transactions.
  • Responsible for corrective actions to be taken in balancing records and expediting supply items requested by the customer that contribute to the improvement of DDXX stock control effectiveness.
  • Assists in evaluating and analyzing trends of imbalance items by isolating contributing inconsistencies and verifies with historical data in DLA Distribution.
  • Provides input to specialists required for developing solutions for correcting the imbalances and determines cause and remedial actions to preclude future occurrence.
  • Initiates new ideas and recommends to supervisor approaches to streamline the inventory process.
  • Documents all investigative procedures and follows up with affected areas to prevent future discrepancies.
  • Processes and insures all transactions are incorporated into the custodial balances of material in storage for the Distribution Center.

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a Government Credit Card, Government Passport and the DLA Distribution J9 published requirements for all personal health, license and other qualifications for deployment.
  • Ability to operate Materials Handling Equipment to include forklift, Container Handling equipment, stock selectors and Hybrid Crane and obtain the valid licenses required.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supply Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Assists specialists in performing analysis related to automated systems applications.
  • Researches discrepancies relevant to receipt, shipment, and storage transaction, and conducts subsequent analysis
  • Conducts reviews of storage and transportation functions to coordinate requirements and recommendations to resolve issues and facilitate procedure change
B. As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: The work requires the incumbent to physically walk the depot warehouses to conduct physical searches and to sit comfortably in an office environment when investigating inventory data. Situations may require standing, walking, recurring bending, climbing ladders, stooping, crouching, carrying of items, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Must obtain a valid license to operate Materials Handling Equipment (MHE).

Work Environment: Work is usually performed in an office setting however; extensive research could require visits to warehouse, secured areas, or outdoor locations. Work may be performed in hazardous areas where chemicals, poisons and low radioactive material (such as luminous dials and gauges) are stored; also in refrigerated areas with 42-45 degree temperatures and small freezers where normal temperature is 4 degrees below 0.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

This is an Expeditionary Civilian (EC) position, and the incumbent will be designated as EE. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent may be required to deploy via temporary reassignment or be required to stay in place to support contingency operations. The incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position requires the incumbent to be screened from military recall. Military Reservists selected for an EC position must arrange for removal from the reserve component prior to appointment to an EC position. This requirement must be met prior to placement in an EC position. Positions identified as EE are subject to deployment to combat support situations. Deployment will be via Temporary Duty (TDY) orders. Deployment may entitle the employee to additional monetary compensation dependent upon the deployment location. Additional allocations are based on the Department of State's determination of a combat zone.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.

ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
