Brief Description of Duties:

As the Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for performing the following major duties:

  • Assists the Branch Supervisor with managing the day-to-day unit operations to meet the tactical objectives and key performance indicator targets derived from the division’s Management Action Plan (MAP) and the Court’s Strategic Plan.
  • Provides direct supervision of direct reports; planning, delegating, and evaluating work to be accomplished by subordinates; and, setting and adjusting work priorities.
  • Manages unit staffing and unit logistics to ensure effective operations and a safe work environment.
  • Monitors and processes cases to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Makes recommendations for new initiatives and improvements to the Branch Chief; implements best practices, business processes, and standard operating procedures for efficient operations and effective customer service.
  • Submits reports to the Branch Supervisor, including, but not limited to, those pertaining to: caseload errors; management action plan objectives; key performance indicators; and personnel actions, all of which may be statistical, narrative, or advisory in nature.
  • Ensures a collaborative employee performance management approach by managing: the development and implementation of performance plans and evaluations; continuous feedback, coaching, and rewarding of staff; documentation of satisfactory and unsatisfactory performance; the timely addressing of performance issues; and the issuance of corrective actions, as needed, in accordance with Court policies and division procedures and standards.
  • Processes daily financial reconciliation.
  • Providing administrative, procedural, and technical assistance to employees, judicial staff, and the public.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

A high school diploma/GED and at least six (6) years of clerical and/or administrative experience in a court and/or legal environment, and one (1) year of experience as a supervisor.  Attention to detail and time management are required.

Successful completion of the Courts' Management Training Program counts as one year of supervisory experience. 

A bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business administration, public administration, human resources administration, or a closely related field; two (2) or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Education Substitution:

An associate's degree and at least four (4) years of clerical and/or administrative experience in court and/or legal environment and one (1) year as a supervisor.  Successful completion of the Court's management training program counts as one year of supervisory experience.
