DUTY 1: Manages and administers data storage and virtualization systems in support of enterprise and mission systems.

DUTY 2: Supports system security and analysis, assessment, and application of security policies and controls to enterprise and mission data storage and virtualization systems.

DUTY 3: Serves as technical subject matter expert providing technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations.

DUTY 4: Participates in discussions, meetings, committees or special projects and presents briefings and prepares recommendations and reports.

Qualifications

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include knowledge of a wide range of technical methods, principles, and practices. The employee must have a thorough knowledge of storage and virtualization system cybersecurity architecture and principles, access controls, cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and risk and security management. The employee needs to be skilled in troubleshooting complex issues, designing secure and efficient storage solutions, and automating infrastructure management. As well as influencing agency-wide security by contributing to policies, recommending enhancements, and sharing threat intelligence to bolster the organization's security posture. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of storage and virtualization systems, cybersecurity architecture and principles, access controls, cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and risk and security management.
  2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures, to include knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material
  3. Knowledge of complex storage and virtualization system concepts, principles, architectures, topologies, protocols, and methods sufficient to evaluate effectiveness of storage and virtualization systems, develop and design schemas, integrate organizational goals and objectives into architecture, and conduct performance-testing activities to troubleshoot and optimize performance.
  4. Knowledge and mastery of skills necessary to establish, maintain, and administer data storage and virtualization systems, to include NetApp, VMware, and cloud-based storage solutions such as AWS EBS, S3, etc.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, Department of Defense (DoD) and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s), to include knowledge of security requirements for mission data storage systems
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including producing technical reports and giving detailed presentations to higher organizational leadership, as well as maintaining good working relationships and working effectively on project teams.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT.
  • Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP)under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020.42, Defense Continuity Plan Development.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
