Duties

Help

As a working leader performs journeyman level carpentry and related work in the Design and construction section.  Leads other employees in the construction, alteration, repair, or modification of items and structures. Assists in training of assigned personnel and assigns tasks, work schedules, and passes on information as needed.  Reports on employee performance and results of assignments.  May also paint, weld, and perform other trades work. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Motivated trades person who demonstrates knowledge of a variety of trade methods and techniques associated with Carpentry or a related trade.  Must have the ability to use hand and power tools.  Must possess knowledge of advanced shop mathematics and have the ability to read, interpret, and apply building plans, specifications, diagrams, blueprints, sketches, and building codes.  Must have knowledge of the Uniform Building Code.   Must demonstrate the ability to lead the work of others. Must demonstrate skill and knowledge of methods, techniques, and tools relevant to the trade.  Must have the ability to perform construction, maintenance, and repair to structures, structural items, equipment, fixtures and utilities.  Must be able to plan and complete Journeyman level work.  Must be able to interpret sketches, schematics and blueprints. Must have knowledge of the Uniform Building Code.  Must be skilled in the use of equipment and have knowledge of safety practices common to the trades.  An annual physical and a California drivers license if required
